A Letter From Ms. Pam, Director     September 2010

“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers – not because you must,
but because you are willing, as God wants you to be;”
1 Peter 5:2

Thanks and praise be to God for the 16th opening of Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool.  What an incredible ministry our preschool program has been to our church and community over the years.  Despite our low numbers this year, the impact of our ministry is not diminished in the least.
This year we have five students under the care of Susan Berliner, who is returning for her 6th year as a teacher.  Katie Broome, Briana Conway, Aidan Haupt and Keith Wilson are all returning students and Rachel Seid joins us new this year.  Briana and Rachel are the third child in their families to attend Good Shepherd and Katie is the cousin of three previous students.
As I reminiscence over the past sixteen years, my mind is flooded with poignant memories involving children, families, staff members, and volunteers; each one coming from diverse backgrounds, different church affiliations, a variety of family dynamics and many counties.  The years have had their share of laughter, tears, struggles, achievements, challenges, successes, spiritual growth, love, counseling, enrichment, knowledge, happiness, disappointment and fulfillment.  Through it all, the one common bond that ties all of our current and past preschool individuals together is Christ, our shepherd.
Just as Peter encouraged his fellow elders to be shepherds of God’s flock under their care, Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool has served as a shepherd to the flocks that God has brought to the program.  Everyone that has served at the preschool has done so with a willing heart, only wanting to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

May God continue to bring children, families, staff and volunteers to Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool so the impact of the outreach ministry to the church and community may remain strong and energized.

“…not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over
those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.”

1 Peter 5:3
