
BUSY BAGS are available from an usher for children ages 4 and under to use during church service. Please return them after each service. ELDERS will meet this Tuesday, March 9 at 7:00 PM. The COUNCIL will meet NEXT Tuesday, March 16 at 7:00 PM. LENTEN SUPPERS StAfF (youth) will be your hosts for the Lenten Supper on Wednesday. We'll have hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, and slaw. There will also be a choice of desserts, plus coffee, tea and lemonade. Cost is $3 for adults, $1.50 for children 5 - 12. We'll serve from 5:30 to 6:30. Y'all come! GUITAR LESSONS/JAM will meet on Mondays during Lent at 7:00 pm for beginners and 8:00 pm for a jam session. YEAR THRU THE BIBLE We are continuing our reading of the Bible cover-to-cover as a congregation. There is an insert in each week’s bulletin with a summary of the readings for that week. Copies of past weeks’ summaries are available on the bookshelf in the narthex. A list of readings with summaries is also available on our website (goodshepherdgainesville.org). There are also several small groups you can join to study the readings. PRESCHOOL PRE-REGISTRATION has begun and will continue through the summer. Please tell your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers about our preschool and pass along a brochure and registration form. Forms are available in the church office or see Pam Jovaag. Thank you! CHOIR Now is a great time to join the choir! We're working on Lent and Easter music. We practice on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and during Lent we also practice on Wednesday nights at 7:45. If you love to sing, or just make a joyful noise, please come and join us! FOOD PANTRY – Items needed for the food pantry in MARCH: COFFEE OR TEA, COOKING OIL, and SHAMPOO. The items requested each month are foods or supplies that are not purchased on a regular basis but are asked for by families who come to the Food Pantry. 50th ANNIVERSARY DINNER maps to the American Legion building will be available after this afternoon’s service for those who have made reservations for the dinner. LENTEN SERVICES continue every Wednesday at 7:00 pm. The theme is “The Sign of Jonah.” Also, there are free Lenten devotion books are available from LAMP (Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots) on the small bookshelf in the narthex. CONCORDIA CHOIR This Thursday, March 11, Good Shepherd will host the A Capella Choir from Concordia Lutheran High School. The free concert will be at 7 PM here at Good Shepherd. We are in need of housing that night for 65 students and chaperones. Hosts will provide a place to sleep, breakfast in the morning, and have them back to church by 8 AM Friday. If you have an extra bed or couch and would be willing to host, please tell Sally Fuge how many you can host and if you prefer boys, girls or either. LWML The regular meeting of the Lutheran Women in Mission will be held on Saturday morning at 8:30 AM. All women are invited to attend. DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME begins next Sunday! Set your clocks FORWARD on Saturday night so you won’t be late for church! PRISON MINISTRY If you are interested in helping prisoners and their families, there is information about the Kairos Prison Ministry in the narthex, or talk to Carl Engel. SAVE THE DATE: Easter Family Fun Day will be on Saturday, March 27 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. There will be crafts, music & an egg hunt. Needed are donations of candy or trinket-filled plastic eggs. If you would like to help on this day, please see Pam Jovaag or Denise Zirbel. COOKBOOK STATUS Due to all the increased activity here at Good Shepherd, we have missed our original deadline. We want to take the time and care that it takes for a quality book. We will accept recipes until early June. Therefore, you procrastinators (and you know who you are) still have time to submit your recipes! |
